The 5 W's
The early Christians discerned the work of Jesus Christ in terms of a number of ministries or services to perform; these ministries are as true and relevant today as they were then. They can be summarised as follows using the terms:
Word of God community;
These areas, The 5 W’s, form the foundation for the overall effectiveness of a Catholic school. This fivefold model of a Christian community is applicable to all Catholic schools and Colleges. It provides a framework for understanding, evaluating and celebrating the distinctive and authentic living tradition of Catholic education within the Diocese of Salford.
The framework provides both the school and the Bishop with a means of ensuring that matters of significant importance such as the Catholic life of the school, teaching and learning are recognised and supported. We need vibrant, spirit-inspired Catholic educational communities, conscious of the living presence of Jesus Christ at their centre, that can in His name, offer ‘life to the full’ (John 10:10) to our children.
In SS Osmund and Andrew’s our school family will:
Place the Word of God at the centre of all we do;
Warmly Welcome everyone to our school as Jesus welcomes us to the family of God;
Accept responsibility for the Welfare of each other as Jesus intended and reach out to those who need us;
Worship the Lord, our God, joyfully with all our hearts;
Be a Witness of a loving God, who is at the heart of all we do, by creating a happy atmosphere, lasting friendships and lifelong memories.
